Look what happened! One day I found one of my favorite encaustic pieces, Accidental Sea, on the floor. When I picked it up I saw two huge deep scratches on the front. You probably recognize Accidental Sea from the blog banner—that’s how much I like this piece.
I know who did it. If the guilty party (Marzipan) comes forward, I promise to be merciful and I won’t bust him down to 9 Lives for more than a month or two.
The Theory, my stand-up comedian boyfriend, suggested it was a collaboration between me and Marzipan. I don’t think so! I’m considering the best way to repair it. The blue paint came from tube oil and the yellow from dry pigment, and the whole piece was fused with an iron. I don’t want to try to match those colors. Accidental Sea was, as the title suggests, a fortuitous accident, a freak of nature. And I really liked it the way it was.
